Nueva Granada is an oasis nestled amidst the towering peaks of Tajumulco and Tacana in Guatemala. Covering an expansive 675 hectares, this coffee farm is a testament to nature's beauty and ecological balance.

At the heart of Nueva Granada's charm lies its diverse array of coffee varietals and innovative processing methods. It's here that coffee cherries are nurtured, handpicked, and meticulously processed to create a coffee experience unlike any other.

Owned by Dieter Nottebohm, Nueva Granada embodies a commitment to sustainable coffee farming. The farm spans altitudes ranging from 1000 to 1600 meters above sea level, creating an ideal microclimate for coffee cultivation.

Over 60 hectares of Nueva Granada are dedicated to lush, wild woods. This unique approach allows the free movement of wildlife, including pumas and deer, fostering a harmonious coexistence with neighbouring farms. The rest of the farm is carefully shaded by Inga and macadamia trees, which not only benefit the ecosystem but also serve as an additional source of income.

Nueva Granada is resolute in its commitment to eco-friendly coffee processing. The farm predominantly employs Eco Processors due to their minimal water usage. However, natural springs on the farm occasionally supplement these methods. Coffee milling takes place right on the farm, ensuring quality control at every stage.

Nueva Granada's commitment to sustainability transcends coffee farming. The farm produces over 40 tons of compost annually, utilizing red worms to create a blend of coffee pulp and macadamia skins. Additionally, the farm harnesses spring water to provide clean drinking water to nearby villages.

The farm's dedication to the community is unwavering. Health workers employed by Nueva Granada cover education, first aid, and vaccinations, ensuring the well-being of all community members. Scholarships are offered, fostering a brighter future for the next generation.

At Gaia, we take Nueva Granada's green beans on a transformative journey. We roast them with precision and care to unlock the coffee's beautiful sweet and caramel notes, ensuring that each cup is a testament to the harmony between nature, sustainability, and the pursuit of quality. With Guatemala's Nueva Granada coffee, you're not just enjoying a cup of coffee; you're immersing yourself in a journey of flavour, sustainability, and exceptional quality.
